About Us
Dementia Friendly Lancaster is made up of dementia advocates in Lancaster County.
Our Vision for a Dementia Friendly Lancaster County
In conjunction with the overarching mission of Dementia Friendly Pennsylvania, Dementia Friendly Lancaster County, envisions a future where every corner of our community is an inclusive, supportive and understanding haven for individuals with dementia and their families.
Our journey over the next three years is marked by the pioneering launch of quarterly Memory Cafes across three strategic locations and piloting Music Memories at Magnolia House on a bimonthly basis. These endeavors will provide a warm, inviting space for social interaction, support and the joy of shared memories. In parallel, we aim to cultivate an environment of empathy and knowledge by ensuring at least 30 local businesses and 12 churches annually are trained and transformed into dementia-friendly establishments, creating an understanding and support throughout the economic, spiritual and social threads of Lancaster County.
Through these initiatives, Dementia Friendly Lancaster County is dedicated to not just changing perceptions and experiences around dementia but also to fostering a community where every individual, regardless of their cognitive condition, feels valued, understood and integrated. Our vision is a testament to the belief that together, we can transform Lancaster County into a model of dementia-friendly living where compassion, support and inclusivity illuminate every path.
